How long did your kitchen actually take, honestly?

We're gearing up for a kitchen remodel and everyone keeps telling me the timeline will slip, but nobody will give me a straight answer on by how much. One contractor said six weeks, another said three months, and I genuinely don't know who to believe. A friend pointed me toward Kitchen Bath Palo Alto as a starting point for comparing local options, but I'm more interested in what actual homeowners experienced. Was your remodel done in the time quoted or did it drag on? And what was the main thing that caused delays, was it materials or something else? I'm trying to plan around the disruption and I'd rather go in with realistic expectations than believe the optimistic quote and be disappointed. Also curious whether anyone managed to stay in the house the whole time or if that was just wishful thinking.
